Every member of the CNNNJ is expected to accept and subscribe to the following code of ethics in order to fulfill our obligations to our clients, the profession and the community.
- I will conduct myself in the highest professional and ethical manner.
- I will make engineering decisions consistent with public safety, health, and welfare, and will disclose promptly any factors that might endanger the public.
- I will be honest and realistic in stating estimates, such that they are based on available data.
- I will avoid real conflicts of interest and will disclose perceived conflicts of interest when they exist.
- I will not solicit, offer, or accept bribes
- I will maintain and improve my technical competency and will undertake technical tasks for others only if qualified by training or experience, or after full disclosure of pertinent limitations.
- I will seek and accept honest criticism of my technical work in order to acknowledge and correct errors and to properly credit the contributions of others.
- I will treat fairly all persons regardless of race, religion, sex age or national origin and will never attempt to injure the person, property, reputation or employment of others.
- I will assist my colleagues and co-workers in their professional development and will support them in following this code of ethics.
- I will help improve public understanding of technology and its proper use.
